Introduction To Role Playing Games

For the ones of you that don’t know RPG stands for Role Playing Game, and is one of the most played  type of game nowadays.

You are the main hero, and you interact with other characters also called NPC-s ( or Non Playable Characters if you’re playing single player). They will give you quests to do, and you have to do them, in order to get experience and advance to higher levels.

The story has the main quest, that will end the game when finished, and usually a lot of side quests, that will help you develop your character. The side quests are not necessary, but will get you deeper into the story and sometimes that is really worth it!

Most RPG games allow you to choose your type of character at the beginning. Usually there are several types of characters, all with different attributes, but there are three main categories to choose from: wizard, fighter and archer.

These will take different names and attributes and will be further more differentiated into subcategories, depending on the game. For example, the wizard can become specialized on different categories of spells, like earth, water, dark magic, white magic, fire, lightning, nature.

How do you grow your character? Well this depends from game to game, but basically you have :

-life, called life points in many games representing your health

-mana, or mana points representing the wizardry point you have left( these point allow you to do spells, if you don’t have them you won’t be able to cast spells)

-stamina, also found by other names, depending on the game, this represents how much time you can run, of do special moves.
Besides these three there are a few other primary attributes like:

-strength  – representing the strength of your character, you’ll have to put points here if your character is a fighter.

-dexterity  -representing the dexterity of your character, usually important for archers

- intelligence – representing the intelligence of your character, usually important for wizards.

There may appear some more primary attributes depending on the game but don’t worry they are usually explained!

Experience – this is heart of the game, and this (along with the story) will keep you in front of the computer for days! Basically, when you kill monsters you get experience, you also get experience when you do the quests. This experience is used to grow in level, making you stronger and able to battle with more and more monsters. Take care how you spend your experience, because in the later part of the game it’s important to be strong so you can finish the game. Usually it’s best to choose a line of evolution at the beginning and keep it until the end of the game !

Ok, we’ve reached the end of part one, hope I was able to enlighten you a little concerning the mysteries of  RPG games. See you in part two!

Board Games Based On Golf

Article by Victor Epand

The world of sports can offer a number of possibilities when it comes to designing an inventive and fun board game. While most board games will deal with situations which involve an element of fantasy, whether it be another world or having vast sums of money in this one, board games which are based on sports allow players to partake in a variation of a game which exists today. This allows players to have all the fun of their favorite sports within the comfort of their own homes, perfect for a rainy day or when one is stuck at home, sick in bed.

Golf is one of these sports which will translate well into a board game. Much of the appeal of golf comes in the form of navigating the terrain of the course as well as the strength and direction of the wind. On top of all of this, one must decide what the best club to use is. All of these strategic decisions come into play before one even makes an attempt to hit the ball. This translates well into a board game, for deciding exactly what to do before one even makes a move is a common element to board games.

Golf Masters is one golfing board game which gives players a lot of elements to control during their game. In this game, six different components can be combined to create an 18 hole golf course. Players will control a little metal golfer in this game, placing them on the board and using a small little handle on the back of the golfer to hit a fluffy white ball serving as the golf ball. By avoiding hazards and sinking the ball into the hole, players score points. Just as in regular golf, the player with the lowest score at the end of the game will win. This is a fun, creative take on playing golf as it simulates much of a traditional golf course for the players to deal with.

Box of Golf is another board game that can simulate the thrill of golf right in a player’s living room. A finely detailed collectors item, Box of Golf is a fully playable game which allows players to adapt their course into something new every time they play! By purchasing expansion sets, they can develop new holes, which can be fit into their current line up at will.

In Box of Golf, players will approach each hole by evaluating the problems which are presented. Then, as if determining the club that they wish to hit the ball with, the player will decide which dice and how many of each to roll. The ball is then tracked on the board to determine where it will land. The player who completes the hole in the lowest number of moves will win that hole. However, there are obstacles present throughout the game. Each player competes for differently colored gems, which can affect how far the ball goes as well as the effects that will take place. By winning holes, players can collect these gems. Spending them will help the outcome of the game. It provides a unique approach to the game of golf, covering all of the basics but providing a little something extra to the players to contend with.

Massive Multiplier Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG)

Article by Elijah Buik

Online Gaming has evolved from old-school games such as Pong into mind boggling feats of technology; from 1v.1 player games into 1v.10 million player games. Overwhelming creativity and excitement runs through the veins of the modern internet world.Starting at a young age I was introduced to the vast world of online gaming with the huge hit of World of Warcraft. With over 9 Million players, claiming 95% of PC gamers, and achieving a 5 star rating, this online fantasy world completely blew my mind. Instead of moping around I instead spent my spare time thrilled. No more dull moments. Today you can search lists of Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) for days. Through my years of playing I have narrowed down the best of the bests. My top 3 favorites would definitely be World of Warcraft, Runescape, and Rappelz. Runescape has less appealing graphics but the excitement is all there. You can do everything from fishing to fighting to merchanting. Rappelz on the other hand is fighting based and does not have fishing, woodcutting, crafting, etc. It instead has a huge variety of classes to choose from and countless unique abilities waiting to be mastered. However, neither could compare to the experience I had with World of Warcraft. WoW contains the largest playing field out there with countless character options for you to choose from. Its fantasy world is so top notch that you really have to see it to believe it.I highly recommend World of Warcraft as a vent to your (or your child’s) bored moping time. If you want some expert guidelines and cutting edge tips on how to rank your way to the top in WoW, Click Here! This guild made my gaming experience all the more enjoyable and exciting, and I hope it will do the same for you!

I am an experienced PC gamer who has been into Massive Multiplier Online Role Playing Games since the age of 8. Not only were MMORPGs my source of never-ending joy, but they also taught me valuable knowledge that I use everyday(such as typing).
